Random Rhythm Games: No-Prep Activity for Grades K-5

How many of you have finished teaching your lesson only to look at the clock and find that you still have 10 minutes left? šŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø These rhythm games are perfect for those times and a lot more!

There are countless ways to play this game but the basic idea is this:

  1. Play the video

  2. Pauseā€”this can be random, you can choose a kid to say ā€œstop,ā€ you can sing a song and stop at the end. Truly whatever you want!

  3. Someone or a some group reads or plays the rhythm on the screen.

  4. If youā€™re playing for points, give or take away points for correct/incorrect rhythms.

  5. Watch out for the ā€œLose a Turnā€ and ā€œBad Luckā€ slides!

These games also work well with a sub, in centers, or while playing instruments.

One teacher said that she spread out enough instruments for her whole class and had them walk around until she paused the video and then they had to grab an instrument and play the rhythm together. This is such a fun way to explore classroom instruments and review rhythms at the same time!

So save the playlist now and subscribe to my channel for even more videos!
